RE: I have a later podruction run 2270

The test of the 2270 in High Fidelity magazine showed over 80 w/ch in to 8 ohms and only 43 w/ch into 4 ohms. Also in 1973, our local shop had the 2270 and it sounded great driving a 3 way Altec that was 8 ohms, and terrible driving the AR3a which was 4 ohms with a 3.2 ohm minimum. We compared it to the Sherwood S8900A on both speakers, and the Sherwood was perfectly happy with the AR-3a's. Oh, the 2270 was fine with the AR-2ax and AR-5 at 8 ohms.

More recently, I got to try a 2270 (not sure what vintage) on a pair of stacked Advents which go down to 2.5 ohms, and it was fine. Go figure!

It does suggest that some 2270's are different; but I've already told you more than I know.

Jerry
