Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Re: been there before(twice)

Sam is correct. The chance of an original 240, 225, or MC275 having the original caps working correctly is next to nil. Don't hesitate to replace both doublers and the filter caps now. Contact Audio Classics for the doublers and Antique Radio supply or others for the filters. Your MC240 should be very close to the schematic voltages if all the caps are in good shape. You might want to put new diodes in the power supply while you are at it. If you are going for sound replace all of the single caps with modern poly caps.
Of course if you do all of this your MC240 will not be 'original' but it will also spec beter than new because we did not have these poly caps back in the 60s. My 60s vintage Mc amps run like new and are very clear and clean when all of the caps are replaced. Caps wear out before resistors and often the original tubes.
