Phil, hi. Mr Capehart invented a mechanism to allow sequential play of 78 rpm albums (lots of records to make one symphony) which took records from a stack, put them on the turntable, played one side, flipped the record, played side two, and then took the played record and stacked it - then went and loaded another record from the unplayed stack. The tone arm had an articulated head that compensated for inner grove tracking error. There wasn't another mechanism that did this for home record playback. Equal attention was given to the electronics: radio receiver, amplifier, etc. The invention of the LP marked the end of this mechanical wonder - the Capehart record player/changer. I grew up with a Capehart 78 changer console. Radio playback was equally outstanding. Although frequency limited by today's standards what it did play back was simply without peer. It was Mr Capehart who sold WurlitZer on the idea of a 78 rpm jukebox based on his invention. There is quite a bit on Capehart on the web.
