Detailman, hi. Black Gate caps do what no other electrolytic caps do. Read the literature re Jelmax. Modders and repairmen don't like them because they cost more than other caps. That cuts down profits. Say a modder charges you 800$ to replace the power supply caps and redo the couplers, work you could have done yourself. If he buys parts on ebay he may have less than 50$ invested. Based on real world experience (Luxman MB-3045, Berning EA-230, McIntosh MC-225, Marantz Model 2, and home built SET 300B, 2A3, 50, 45, parallel 300B) Black Gate caps in the power supply and as cathode bypass are nothing short of excellent. If you like the sound from what you did leave the thing alone. Yes, the BG cost more than what you can get on ebay. Are the sonic benefits worth it? Yes, without question. Just for grins download Michael Percy's on line pdf catalog and check the BG prices in toto. You will see the 500 V series are pricy. Most others are not.
