RE: Magnacord 1028 Trash or Treasure

Fred, hi. I think you may have to wait another 50 years before any historical significance will catch up to this machine. Everything eventually appreciates in value. How much and how soon is the question.
I have two Magnecord PT-6 machines, earlier and i think more interesting, one of which is the only one I know in existence made as a stacked head two track stereo machine. The PT-6 was early enough to never have been made as a two track machine - according to conventional wisdom. However, one special two track stacked head version was built. All the rubber belts, pinch roller, and any other rubber parts probably won't make it another 50 years. You could store the thing in a nitrogen atmosphere to stop any oxidation effects. As one can see this kind of "put it away for the future" planning gets complicated immediately.
