ESDI-80, hi. I call it having the parts "settle down", but "breaking in" will work. Capacitors especially require the passage of time in operation to reach optimal performance. I think it is this you are hearing. As you mention I would replace all power supply electrolytics. Replace them with polypropylene (dry - Unlytic or Solen: wet-ASC or your choice of paper & oil). I really really like Black Gate - the only electrolytic I would consider besides Cerafine. Any addition/re-working of a circuit involving soldering/de-soldering parts requires a little time for the new to "settle down." Interesting, isn't it?
