Re: A man with questions about NADs

If I were looking for old NAD equipment, I would stick with the earliest series from the late 70's and early 80s. I have always found the sound of the later "power envelope" units a bit harsh though some people seem to like them. I would look for a 7020, (but not the later 7020e), 7030, 7045, 6060 or 7080.

I would also look seriously at the Harmon Kardon HK 430, HK 630 and HK930 from the early 70's. I would also watch for Luxman amongst others.

With any of this old relatively inexpensive equipment, I would want to buy locally so I could hear it first. With old equipment, condition is highly variable and unless you get it for $10 in a garage sale, you do not want to be paying significant $ to get it fixed.
