Re: Is the KLH 20 as good a choice for a tube amp as the the KLH 17?

I had both 17's and 20's at the same time a couple of years ago.

The 20's were really rough cosmetically but sounded decent on anything I tried them with (including a NAD 3020). On my Sugden A28B they sounded incrediby good.

My 17's were much better cosmetically but did not sound near as good.

I would not conclude that 17's are necessarily worse. It could have just been a problem (eg in the crossover) with the pair I had.

I would conclude that the 20's are not as hard to drive as the rating suggests and with the right match, they can sound terrific.
