Many alternatives for large advents

Large advents sounded pretty decent on many receivers and amps. The wood veneer ones also look good so its no wonder they sold so many.

Back in the 70's I heard them mainly on my Sony 7065 and my buddy's Luxman though I remember thinking that that a Marantz 2270 would sound better. I bought my current pair in the last year with a Sony 2000F, 3200F, 5000FW stack of separates and they match up very well. Quite a bit better than any of the above receivers I would guess.

Given your listening preferences and probable availability of equipment I would look for at least 60W in near TOTL equipment and opt for more power if I could get it without loss of quality or a much bigger price tag.

Probably 70's or 80s to keep the cost down though some of the early TOTL prologic equipment from the 90's is a hell of a bargain and gives you a remote.

A NAD 3080 amp or 7080 receiver would sound great as does my Yamaha A2070 prologic amp.

I would check the Craigslist locally looking for receivers and amps that look promising and ask here if you haven't heard them yourself. Alternatively if you let us know your nearest city, you might find a few people prepared to check the listings and make recommendations.
