stroll down memory lane

Ken, hi. This whole thread brings back so many memories. The first simulcast stereo I heard was via ABC TV Los Angeles and their local radio affiliate. The time was 1956 or so. You could get the second
channel for stereo (sort of) via the radio. The program: The Lawrence Welk Show! The program wasn't all that exciting but the technology experiment was. AM radio and television audio combined for stereo. Who'd a thunk. I thought it was cool. The first FM Multiplex stereo commercial I ever heard was via an LA station. It was a Coca-Cola commercial. This was about 1957 or so. The station was so proud of airing it in stereo they'd pre-announce they were going to run it - believe it or not. The most thrilling projected television I ever saw was about 1963 or so. Nothing beat Eidophore Color TV projection . It took 3 to do color. I saw it projecting both NTSC programming and with the 1000 line Eidophore color camera in a closed circuit set up.
The light source could be anything you wanted - carbon arc, xenon discharge, whatever. The Eidophore modulates the light.
I also remember the breathtaking color on the monitors at NBC in Burbank before it went to the transmitter. Those old triple gun RCA round tubes with low deflection angle were just lovely. The Dinah Shore show was the NBC color showcase at the time - all live. The effort to get the color right on this show must have been amazing.
Ah, memories memories.
