Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Re: but you claim expertise elswhere about...

I absolutely fail to see the connection between asking the value of a Dynaco ST-70 and having a brightness issue that keeps materializing and wondering about the Heathkits...my current amps. Perhaps you misunderstood and thought that I was seeking information on the Heathkit amps because I was considering purchasing a pair.

I do consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on vintage gear only in that I've heard many, MANY different pieces. It's getting more and more obvious that the problem is me. I go through periods of thinking everything is bright and irritating. Still, I do like to post threads on the subjects at hand just to see if there are others sharing my experiences. This helps me figure out if what I'm hearing is real or my imagination.

It's been a long road, and now I'm back to square one again...thinking all my gear is BRIGHT. For the most part, my experiences on Audio Asylum have been very helpful. And then there are anonymous assholes like Ballsucking Monk above who thinks it's clever to dig up several year old posts of mine in a sorry attempt to humiliate me. Yes, folks...I've got a problem. I've been trying everything, but I guess I just shouldn't listen to music at all when I'm going through these periods.

For what it's worth, at the moment...I'm listening without irritation. I put away everything and brought old faithful out of the back room. This Fisher X-202-B is by no means the last word in hi-rez, but sounds pretty smooth with this UK mono "Revolver" through my KEF 105.2s at this moment.

In any case, yes...I've thought about padding the tweeters....but that sort of thing creates other problems that I'm not willing to live with. Thanks for the idea, though.
