Yamaha C-80 M-40 C-2 and B-2

This weekend I found a Yamaha C-80 pre amp and an M-40 power amp in a garage sale.

I've not yet A-B'd them with my C-2 and B-2 but they do sound pretty good now that they have a few hours on them.

The only problem I've noticed is very slight noise when turning the volume control. Turning the knob back and forward did not completely eliminate this. I would normally apply De-oxit but the pot is encased in a blue plastic case. There are some notches in the topof the case that may or may not permit De-oxit to get to the contact surfaces inside. I am cautious using De-oxit around plastic. Has anyone tried it on one of these pots?

It will be interesting to hear how the phono stage compares to the one in the C-2. It offers some addtional loading options.

David
