Sherlock,Check the 220 ohm 5 watts which are on the output tubes. If a tube arced over this will go out so the transformer will not be damaged. Do NOT replace this with any resistor over 5 watts. I worked on a 275 once where 10 watters had been put in and the transformer was fried.
Check your bias voltage against the schematic with no load on the amp. If it off start working back from the output tubes. If the 12 MFD caps are bad it is ok to use the common 10 mfd.Ron-C
