Welcome to the battery club. Music is made of silence, rhythm and tones. We spend lots of time tweaking the tone and forget to tweak for silence.I suggest that you solder a large (2 to 5 uF) 250 V or 400 V poly cap across the PS entry terminals on your DAC. This will help as a local bypass and will improve DA BASS.
The Cap should have very low dissipation factor (DF). Hovland and Auricap make high-capacitance high-quality plastic film caps. Also, use shielded, twisted pair cable from the battery to the DAC. CAT 5 cable is pretty good for the job, use both wires of a twisted pair for +, the second pair for -.
The CAT 5 cable shield should be grounded at the DAC chassis end only.
BTW, fuse the battery! A battery has huge current capability, there will be lots of sparks and smoke in case of a short circuit (without a fuse).
good luck
Carlos
