FitzMaurice is right.
Better still, short two cheap RCA plugs and insert them in the amp input connectors. If you hear hum, the chances of a bad power supply are close to 100%.
If you hear no hum, use a shielded interconnect and connect the amp to the source. Still hums ? Look for ground loops: only one component in the system should be connected to ground (3 prong AC plug) or a ground loop through a cable TV feed. There is a gizmo sold at radio shack to eliminate cable TV ground loops.
