Re: Audioquest Sorbothane Sheets

Sorbothane is good for damping very low frequencies. It melts when applied to tubes, may melt on top of high-current ICs.
I find sorbothane feet under the CDP more effective than sorbothane sheets inside the player.
I prefer sound deadening bitumen self-adhesive pads sold by Parts Express and Crutchfield, they are used to damp car doors/trunks in auto sound applications.

I leave the CDP on 48 hours, discharge any electrostatic charge in my body by touching a grounded chassis, then carefully touch all ICs with bare fingers. If I cannot keep the finger on top of the IC, that's becuase it's too hot to get the bitumen treatment.
In that case, the IC gets only the 3M aluminum sound deadening sheet.
All other ICs get the 3M aluminun vibration control product, plus 3M copper EMI/RFI tape, plus a small bitumen pad. The rest of the bitumen is useful for damping the CDP covers, specially those close to the transport.

I forgot to mention in my previous posts: the crystal (clock) gets a different treatment. I buy several sizes of rubber grommets and use the one that has the tightest fit around the crystal can. Then I fill the top with Elmer's glue, let it dry, then cover the crystal and associated ceramic caps (very microphonic) with a large piece of blue tack or removable plastic adhesive for posters/maps(looks like white silly putty). Most tweakers recommend covering the clock with blue tack, but those ceramic caps are much more microphonic than the clock.
Good luck with your tweaking
