When I installed an R1 I expected an audible improvement but I could not believe the level of improvement I received. I thought there was no need to consider the outlet as an area to upgrade for the forseeable future. I then started reading posts on AA regarding people that had replaced their R1's with the Synergistic Research Teslaplex. After emailing with a few posters I was convinced it was worth a try (it costs less than the R1 also). I expected a sideways move where some aspects of the sound improved while others fell a bit short of the R1. I was almost as pleasantly surprised as I was by replaced an old original house construction outlet with the R1. Everything improved! The R1 sounded veiled in comparison. I agree that switching things in and out for a second listen is a good idea but there was no need in this case.
