I probably will anger a bunch of Steve Hoffman groupies but what the hell. I have many DCC gold CD's and many MoFi gold CD's. The MoFi are a bit of a crap shoot. Some are brilliant and worth every penny and more (try the Band "Music from Big Pink" for an example of this) and others are horribly disappointing with little or no audible improvement
(Jethro Tull "Stand Up", although to be fair it was a dreadful recording to begin with). On balance, I am happy with the great majority of my Mofi gold discs. The DCC (mastered by Steve Hoffman) on the other hand are uniformly undiscernable from the original. That may be a small overstatement (Joni Mitchell "Blue" was a noticeable improvement). But generally speaking, I would have a hard time discerning the remaster from the original. Steve has a very devoted cult following though. I just wish MoFi would do some of the (lots of really good titles that DCC
remastered) catalog that DCC did. Nothing against SH, I am sure he is a devoted music lover, I just don't understand all the hype regarding his
recording engineer talents. I tried to state this inoffensively and hope respondents will reply in kind.
