mixing premium caps

I have been using a Ming DA 2A3 preamp for a year now and have done extensive tube rolling in it. This product is truly a giant killer.
It is the only component in my system that is not megabuck. I am going to try modding it (not me a tech) with some premium caps. I have read (and printed out) several exhaustive cap rolling exercises by guys that have lots of cap rolling experience. I have found in my tube and cable rolling that the best results often are achieved by combining complementary tubes or cables. What I mean is that by combining, for instance, a very lush tube with a very fast and detailed tube, the end result is better than running the best balanced ($$$$$$) and widely recognized "king of the hill" tube in any given family throughout the signal chain. Ditto for cables. I am extrapolating this also will apply to cap rolling. From what I have read, two highly regarded caps with very different but complimentary sonic signatures are the V cap TFTF and the Mundorf silver in oil. The former being very transparent and linear top to bottom and the latter being a more liquid presentation. What I have found in tube and cable rolling is that the last component seen generally has the dominant signature. In example, the Jade Hybrid run from the DAC to pre (LUSH), followed by the Stealth Indra from the pre to the amp (LINEAR with PRAT) results in a different signature than if the cable positions are reversed. I am also guessing this may be the case with cap mixing/matching. So, if I used the Mundorf as input couplers and the V cap as an output coupler the result will be different than reversing the caps positions with the output position being slightly dominant. I am asking for people with experience with cap rolling to offer comments/advice. All relevant posts will be appreciated. Thanks.

Bart
