What Tweekeng said, inside a junction box. The splicing method should be stripped ends of the wire conductors pre-twisted together followed by wire nuts twisted onto the ends. 14/2 romex with ground is okay for 15A but not as efficient as 12 gauge. I would personally not waste time extending 14 gauge roxex another 30 feet for a dedicated audio line. I would Hire an electrician to rewire the run with 12 gauge.
