RE: Love the good solid american engineering...

This must be a very common happenstance. I did this too. Being a machinist, I found a different solution. I checked the screw thread with a screw gage (metric, can't recall the size but believe it was fine thread), then went to Sears and purchased a metric tap set. I tapped the nut and the problem was solved. A friend I recommended the R1 to also had this occur. He sent his back for a replacement.
