I suggest that you call the factory and ask the part number and manufacturer of your player's transport. It is probably a Phillips VAM1201 or VAM1202, maybe a Sony. Then do a Google search, e.g :"VAM-1202 laser price"
Buy a new optical unit and replace it, they do not cost a fortune ($30 in my neck of the tropical woods).
Do not attempt adjustments, unless you have a service manual and the right tools. It is cheaper and easier to go ahead and replace the laser/sled unit. They last on average 10 thousand hours, anyway.
Good luck
Carlos
