For once, an intelligent response. Jack does mention yttrium, neodymium and lanthanum oxides, as well is some other rare earth. From my experience, the coating is inert to air, water, and general solvents, so this leaves out Misch metal, which is used as 'flint' in cigarette lighters. It (the coating) has a low resistance, but it still must be bypassed, either internally or externally with a low value high quality resistor of very low value, in order to make it work effectively. Also, it was developed under cryogenic conditions and Jack used to use liquid nitrogen with early devices.
