Re: rectifier voltage rating ??

Does the voltage rating specifies the rectified voltage output from the rectifier ??
> NO,its name is peak inverse voltage (PIV)
I understand that the ratings are actually the reverse breakdown voltage , so does this specifies the rectified voltage ??
> NO, again

My int amp presents a 55v of rectified voltage ?? So must i pick a diode which rates at 150-200V ??
> Better be safe than sorry, 200 V will last forever. 4 times the PS voltage is a good rule-of-thumb.

What bout the current rating, would it be better to use a high-current one such as 16A but 100v diode compared to a 1.1A but 200V diode ??
NO, diodes will fail during power-on if the peak inverse voltage is exceeded. Your priority is the voltage spec. A slight over-rating of the current spec will yield a cooler-running diode, that's all.
I have heard (but have no proof) that 10A diodes generate more noise than 1 A diodes.
Good luck
