Re: Preamp output cap shootout

I tend to agree with our friend JoHnPA regarding teflon caps. They do sound very clean, close to no cap at all.
I have lots of experience with BGN in yin-yang pairs, mostly as tube cathode bypass caps and in CDP power supplies, they do sound superb FOR AN ELECTROLYTIC CAP, but there is a slight residual of "lytic bleached sound". Also, if you want a smooth/warm sound, BG is not for you...try Elna Silmic.

IMO, in the sub-uF range, Teflon is hard to beat.
If you need 100 uF, the best cap I have heard is BGN.
Beware that there are excellent sounding Teflon caps (Relcap Exotica TFT, russian military surplus) and average sounding Teflon caps made by smaller companies. I have yet to try our friend's Ven Haus's V-cap, which looks excellent on paper.
