Mr9,You may want to replace the power supply and doubling caps in your 240. As these age the power supply will be below par and limit the output. A properly running 240 will produce around 50 watts sine wave and should do 60 per channel with RCA 7027A output tubes. The 7027A tubes may be to tall for the tube cage though.
The original signal caps should also be replaced with modern film units. The old caps measure like resistors and the old resistors like caps. A recaped 240 is a very good sounding amp.Ron Cornelius,
