Re: McIntosh C2200 Saga....(continued)

Mac Tube, the only C2200 saga is the one in your mind! We, McIntosh purchase the 12ax7a and 12at7a from a distributor in England. We have used both the Chinese and Russian 12ax7a tubes and are using the Chinese 12at7s in the C2200, Our distributor QCs the tubes and they are labled WITH THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN and the McIntosh logo. We test each C2200 with tubes installed for distortion, noise, etc. If a tube is bad we reject it. McIntosh has always focused on circuit design and our products will meet spec if a part is less than perfect. This is the key to long term reliability. Again, the consumer can install their favorite tubes in the C2200. The C2200 may improve sonicaly with the tubes of one's choice. We have to use the tubes which are in adequate supply to meet the demand for the C2200.
We used the Chinese small tubes in over 4000 MC275 reissue amps with very few warranty claims. In fact the warranty rate of our tube products is very simular to our solid state units. A Mc is a Mc I guess.
If you use a C2200, look at the build quality and features, and listen to it, we think you will be impressed.
Thanks again,
Ron Cornelius
