Hi,I'm building a point to point wired version of the Kennedy ST70 mod (his board is not currently available), and I'm trying to decided between going with Holcos or Rikens in the circuit (or with a mix of the two).
Kevin recommends the Holcos, but he has never tried the Rikens or any other high grade carbon film resistor. His experience with them is based on the consumer electronics types, which he finds to produce distortion.
In particular, Kevin says that the plate resistors in his design for the driver stage should be very stable. I'm not sure what the TCR is for Rikens vs. Holcos.
I've read the other threads on Riken resistors, but I wanted to ask for this specific comparison. I have Holcos in my stock ST70 board and am not all that pleased with the sound, though they may simply be making the shortcomings of the original circuit audible.
Thanks,
David Anderson
