Re: Help! Dynaco ST-70 tube glowing cherry red!!

Most common cause in an unrestored ST70 would be a coupling cap (.1uf) going leaky.

Swap the two EL34's on that channel and see if the problem follows the socket or the output tube. If it follows the tube, you have a bad EL34, if it follows the socket it probably is the coupling cap or less likely a faulty socket.

If you're running a vintage ST70 unrestored, do replace all of the coupling caps and the selenium rectifier. It is well worth the trouble.
