Warmest sounding 5670/396A/2C51 variant?

So I start reading about Western Electric 396A tubes. A few people say they're warm and rich with almost too much weight in the bass and midbass. Perfect! That's exactly what I want. There's early production WE 396As and late production, but can't figure out what the difference is sonically or how to tell them apart. Then I read some more and some people say they're thin sounding and bright on top, that the Sylvanias are the warmest of this family. Read some more and it's Bendix. Tons of posts wherein people state that "tube X is the best", but without a description of what "best" means, that's just irrelevant filler on the internet. So what is your vote for the warmest, fattest, smoothest, darkest, most lush version of this tube? I need subdued highs and huge, full bass. Thanks!
