RE: vintage 6L6WGBs - what to run them at?

Consider 5881 a 6L6G as far as operating conditions are concerned. The 5881 was a TungSol tube. I like the sound of 5881 very much - Ultra Linear, with regulated screens, and wired as triodes. Just don't get greedy for watts. If the first watt is bad the rest don't matter.
I'd try to run the tubes at the golden mean of operation. The tubes will
be happy and have a longer life. Pushing any tube just to extract maximum watts is folly. This isn't a get maximum horsepower thing. It is a get the best sound out of the device possible within recommended operating conditions. Happy Listening, Pete.
