RE: Pink/tan based versus black

Hi, Fender Lover. As Chris O points out some lighter colored bases are Miconal or Micalex - trade names for mica loaded phenolic. This material
is lower loss at high freqs - RF. Ceramics (Steatite being one) are best. Mica loaded is next best. Phenolic or other plastic is
at the bottom. For audio frequencies, home entertainment, televisions, etc plastic bases prevailed. Interestingly mica is used for spacers in receiving tubes. It is not ideal either. It tends to outgas. Again ceramic is best. If you examine a 6900 you will observe ceramic spacers in a nine pin Noval package. Virtually only one of its kind.
