Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

RE: Urban myth. It does nothing, especially compared with cryoing.

In wonder though what is the standard that defines cryogenic treatment of tubes. I have not understood or heard anything like a way to ensure that the treatment has definitely occured. For example, exctly how cold ? and how long at that temperature? must the tube be bruoght to to say a cryogenic treatment has occured and is there any way to measure the tubes exposure to prove it was cryoed?
I was associated/ran a lab that used liquid nitrogen freezers to preserve biological material for medical purposes. We used all manner of sensors and very strict record keeping using standardized protocols.
I realize there is a big difference in the importance of these 2 uses of cryo treatment but I am afraid the business of cryoing tubes has no accountability assuming that it has any viable impact of the tubes. You just don't know what your buying.
