If I sell a pair or quad of some type of power tube, I always ask the customer what his plate voltage is and what bias he is running. It helps in picking out a quad that will reasonably "fit" in his amp. You're always going to have to rebias the amp when new tubes go in...it's a given.
If the dealer is lacking the specs on your particular amp....he can only guess....and that's not ideal...for either one of you.
