The visible light given off by the heater inside the cathode tube does not equate to audio performace. Don't worry about it. Most of it comes from little extensions of heater external to the cathode tube. Now if we were talking filamentary (directly heated) cathode as in a Type 45 then it would be a metter of concern. Also regarding learning on the subject, you can teach yourself from day one of 101 with resources available on the net. There are also books if you prefer. Happy Listening!
