There is a reason that tubes sound microphonic in one component and not another. When they are not used in a gain stage (voltage amplifier) you will not hear the microhony that is present in that tube. The tube hsan't been magically altered by placing it a different component. It is being used in a buffer stage (many DAC's and CD players use tubes in this fashion) where the micrphony or noise will not be heard at all. This is why when someone on ebay or anyplace else state "I played these tubes in my XYC component and they were dead quiet". That is a guarantee of absolutely nothing. Surprisingly, many people aren't aware of this.
