I am a machinist. One of the most common uses of cryogenic treatment is for cutting tools (Carbide, HSS steel, etc.). My understanding is that cryogenic treatment changes the structure at the molecular level. It is very cost effective in machining. The tool life of a cryo treated insert is 4 to ten times a non treated cutting tool. These tools generate lots of heat and operate under very high temperatures. This does not adversely affect the tool. Now back to the original question I asked. Has anyone had noisy/microphonic tubes treated to determine if this affects the noise/microphony? Thanks.
