I don't believe the testing and grading is any different with the Black Sable's as opposed to Tube Depot's regular matched tubes. Testing and grading are done after the tubes have undergone the cryogenic treatment. That's what I was told when I enquired with Tube Depot about them.
They apparently loose a small percentage of the tubes that undergo the process simply because it places a great stress on the tube. I would imagine also that any testing or matching that was done done prior to receiving cryogenic treatment would be of little value to the final outcome.
The cryogenic process effects the the tubes sound and reliability.
The only EL-34's I have experience with besides the SED's are the EH and they did seem to have more extension on top and a more balanced sound overall.
