This particular version of the 12AT7 was engineered for mobile equipment like two-way radios in police cars and taxi cabs where heater voltage was subject to wide excursions. That is the distinguishing feature of the 6679. I'd probably be looking for 6201. I think they are not too horribly expensive these days. I remember HAM fests and swap meets some years ago when there were practically buckets of these things lying around. What piece of gear uses them?
