twystd, hi. The same thing may be true of the JJ ECC99. I was not happy with the sound in the first circuit I tried them. I ran them for awhile before going back to 5687. Just a few days ago I decided to try them again in another circuit. I've been thinking about whether I gave them a fair shot the first time. In circuit 2 they sound very good. Curious how this kind of thing works. Implementation obviously is one factor but run time may be another. I know there was a lot of initial excitement about the debut of the ECC99 and then opinion kind of ran the other way. Right now I'm happily looking at the JJ ECC99 as a winner.
