walden, hi. Try Canare 4S11 ( working from memory here. It has been awhile. how's that for a disclaimer?) They do not use PVC as dialectric - a good thing. Copper conductors are not tinned. For small signal try Canare 4E6S - Star Quad. Again, no PVC dialectric. A dulled single edge blade is perfect for working it as it has a feel more like hard wax than water hose(PVC). If you have the patience to terminate the 4E6S my prediction is you will be happily surprised by performance. I say patience because once you get your technique down it still take you a while to execute properly. I used to figure 1/2 hour per connector on average once you are up to speed. Get a good Pb free solder: like 96.5% tin and 3.5% silver with activated rosin core. My fav is from Capp Alloys - only virgin metals. Do a google on Canare for venders. 4E6S is made in a rainbow of jacket colors. 4S11 is in gray.
