Re: Amp stands and how much or any power conditioning on tube power amps?

dave, hi. I'm going to leave the amp stands to others. Regarding power for your amp and everything else for that matter I will give you what I have found from experience. Go for a Balanced Power device. EquiTech pioneered this stuff. I suggest you go to their web site and read the white papers. In 1998 I was skeptical. It sounded to me like solving a problem that required no solution. I was wrong. Totally. I use balanced power devices for audio playback and also in a studio enviroment. Having heard the dramatic lowering of noise floor, the increased clarity and improvement in every way, I can only say balanced power is the way to go. Roger Nichols (rec engineer - Steely Dan, etc) had an article in a British recording magazine a few months ago. I'd try to Google it. Some of the most dramatic improvement came in low voltage circuits (5V etc) found in digital equipment. The balanced power device gives power the DAC or ADC just plain loves. I own the Equi-Tech 2Q as well as a Monster product. If you haven't experienced this find a dealer who carries a balanced power device and beg/borrow, buy one. As power from the mains becomes more and more compromised these balanced power devices will become ubiquitous. You will have to hear it for yourself to believe it.
