Roland, hi. As long as the wire you select is safe for voltage and current you should be fine. You can find flexible high voltage wire (test prod wire for VOM/VTVM etc) that is both easy to work, heat tolerant, and electrically safe. Check a mainline industrial parts supplier. For anything under 1kV I would choose a wire with a 5kV spec. I have been using a Beldon product but there are lots of other makers/choices. With a pliable wire you won't be putting lots of unneccesary mechanical stress on the top cap seal or the solder joint - all good. I also like this wire because it is composed of multi-strand bare copper - not plated.
