Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I don't want the slightest bit of anything harsh or edgy when I listen to my tube amps. I tend to be EXTREMELY sensitive to fatigue and prefer a warm and natural presentation.I've been told that I should be using Illinois polyester caps....but I'm having a hard time finding the smaller values without spending a fortune at VTV. So how are the Mallorys? Is there another brand I should look at?
Also, I'd like any opinions on polyester vs polypropelene in general. What is the most transparent, warmest, smoothest, most neutral cap to use without spending insane $$$?

- 'Warm' by definition is colored. Some of us may think it's 'natural', but 'neutral' it's not. (NT) - jeffreybehr 17:49:59 07/5/05 (2)
