> me in on the history of this tube amp?Introduced in 1959, designed by David Hafler (yes, the same Hafler
who made transistor amps), the most popular home tube hifi amplifier
ever made, depending on who's doing the guestimating, at least 100,000
were produced.Sold for $99.95 new as a kit.You can read the specs and contemporary reviews of the ST70
at http://www.triodeel.com/mailbag.htmThe entire original instruction manual is available online at
http://www.curcioaudio.com/st7_mnl.pdfThe really nice thing about ST70's as far as people who want to poke
around in tube amps (as opposed to just listening) is that nearly
every part other than the chassis (we're working on that) and those cheezy speaker connectors(but there's ways around that) is available off the shelf
and there's innumerable mods & tweaks for them, and nearly anything
you'd want to know is available free on da WWW.Some folks have tried every
mod board and trade the boards like baseball cards.
