Re: Groove Tubes "Mullard"12AX7 - Concensus yet ?

The 12ax7-M GT tube is very neutral and microphonic free. At least the two samples I have. These also have the same internal structure as the original Mullard which contributed to the low microphonics. This may not be a tube with a lot of flavor but is a candidate for a neutral phono section tube or other places where neutrality is needed.
I have seen the production equipment at the GT facility in S. Ca. and it is complete. Aspen said they only need to run it a few times a year for their sales needs. The ovens, the vacuum machines, the winding laths, and all else take up a lot of room and consume major gas and electricity when in operation. It is cool that GT went to the trouble to maintain this equipment. Kind of like an operating museum of tubedom.
