The 83V won't hurt anything, but the voltage drop is wrong, and I'm sure the calibration will be way off.

While you're waiting for an 83 you can make an adapter that will work fairly well. Juse use a dead 4 pin tube base, and 2 x 1N4007's and 2 x 10 ohm 1W resistors.

It works nicely for the TV7's, but folks have reported that it doesn't work as well for some other Hickoks. It should still be much better than the 83V.
