I'm sure Audionote knows their filament supply can handle the extra current requirements if they are suggesting the 5852. I've played around with the 5852 and also it's obscure cousin the 5839 (same tube, with a 26v filament) in some DIY projects.

The Bendix stuff is often marketed as substitutes for common types - with occasionally funny results. Someone was recently selling 5993's as 6X4's on Ebay. While it's true that the 5993 was "modeled" after the 6X4 they are very different. I bet the buyer will be surprised when they try to fit a 9 pin tube into the 7 pin 6X4 socket!
