Despite their low esteem, many tv tubes are fantastic audio performers. Others are good for regulated supplies etc.As Douglas pointed out the 6BX7, 6DN7 and 6BL7 are very good audio tubes. A few other favorites are the 12BH7, 6CG7/6FG7, 6S4 and 6EM7/6EA7.
Odd voltages aren't a problem btw, just use DC filaments. For example, I run 407A's in a linestage - they are 20/40v version of the better known 2C51/396A/5670 dual triode. 20V is easly to supply with a LM7820 regulator.
