The differences between the PAS 2/3 and 2X/3X are small, and an update kit was available at one time thru Dynaco.Basically the 2 was the old style front, the 3 the later aluminum style.
The "X" adds:
New tone controls with center detents
A change in the action of the Blend control
The ability to delivery higher output voltages (up to 10v) particularly useful with transistor amps.If all you are after is the higher output voltage, you can add a 1uf cap between the output of the 750K potentiometers and the output jacks.
